LucidDream Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies specifically to LucidDream, an iOS and watchOS application published by High Desert Software Entertainment LLC ("we", "us", "our"). Other apps we publish may have their own privacy policies. This policy describes our current data practices; we will update it if those practices change.
1. Information You Provide to the App
The App stores the following information locally on your iOS device:
- Dream journal entries you write, including titles, descriptions, tags, mood, and technique used
- Lucid dreaming session settings: WBTB alarm time and preferences, WILD vibration type and schedule, Reality Check frequency and time window
- WILD session history: timestamps of scheduled haptic events and outcomes
- HealthKit sleep data you have granted the App permission to read (used to display sleep analysis and calculate optimal WBTB wake times)
All of this information is stored on your device using Apple's standard data storage frameworks (Core Data and UserDefaults). It is protected by iOS file-system encryption when your device is locked.
2. HealthKit Data
The App can request permission to read HealthKit sleep data on your iPhone. You can decline this permission entirely, and the rest of the App will continue to work normally — only the Sleep Analysis tab and Smart Alarm feature in WBTB use HealthKit data.
In compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines, we confirm the following:
- HealthKit data is used solely within the App on your device, to display sleep analysis and to calculate optimal WBTB wake times.
- HealthKit data is never sold, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising or marketing, and never transmitted to any server.
- You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time via Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > LucidDream on your iPhone.
3. Apple Watch and WatchConnectivity
If you have a paired Apple Watch with the LucidDream watch app installed, the iPhone app and the watch app exchange messages using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. These messages contain settings (vibration type, tap count, session start/stop) and never include HealthKit data or dream journal content. All communication occurs only between your own paired devices and never involves a server.
4. Notifications
The App requests permission to send local notifications for WBTB alarms, Reality Check reminders, and WILD haptic delivery to your Apple Watch. All notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS on your device. We do not use push notifications and do not have access to any device token.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Data the App stores is held in your device's local storage. You may:
- Delete individual dream journal entries by swiping or using the delete action in the Journal tab.
- Clear all stored data via Settings > Data & Privacy > Clear All Data inside the App.
- Uninstall the App entirely to remove the App's local data from your device.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 12+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under 12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App that you would like reviewed or deleted, please contact us at the email address in the Contact Us section below. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising any minor's use of health-related apps.
7. International Users
The App is published from the United States. Data described in Section 1 is stored on your device wherever you use the App.
EEA/UK users (GDPR): The App as described in this Policy does not transmit your personal data to us or to third parties. To the extent the GDPR applies to your use of the App, you may exercise your rights (including access, rectification, or deletion) by contacting us at the email below. If our practices change in the future, this Policy will be updated to identify the relevant data controller and processing details. Apple, as the platform provider, has its own data practices governed by Apple's privacy policy.
California users (CCPA/CPRA): The App as described in this Policy does not collect personal information from you that is sold or shared with third parties. To the extent the CCPA/CPRA applies to you, you may exercise your rights by contacting us at the email below.
8. Third-Party Services
The App uses Apple's iOS and watchOS frameworks (HealthKit, UserNotifications, WatchConnectivity, Core Data). Your use of these frameworks is also governed by Apple's privacy practices. The App does not currently embed other third-party services, SDKs, or libraries. If this changes in the future, this Policy will be updated accordingly.
9. Security
The App relies on iOS's built-in security model. Your data is protected by device-level encryption (file protection) when your device is locked. We recommend using a passcode or biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) on your device.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how the App handles data, we will update this page with a new "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, notify users through an in-app message or release notes. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
